This is my interpretation of two designs painted by Rufus Porter. The design on the back of this piece is taken from one in the Holsert house in Hancock, New Hampshire, painted by Porter circa 1825-1830. The design on the box is taken from one in the parlor of the Emerson house in Wakefield, Massachusetts decorated by Porter circa 1835-1840. This candlebox measures 19 1/2" x 13" x 5 1/2". Predominant colors are red, green, gold, blue. Price includes shipping. (Continental US only)
